Narragansett Council is sending 3 1/2 troops to the 2021 National Jamboree. The council Jamboree committee is now accepting applications for leaders. We're also accepting applications for Scouts. Go to the council website http://www.narragansettbsa.org/camping-activities/2021-national-scout-jamboree/72381 for more info. Times are not real good right now but lets look forward to a bright and prosperous 2021. Go to the Jamboree with 30,000 of your fellow scouts.

Would you like to serve scouting by spending the weekend at Camp Norse? The CampMaster corps is a group of trained and registered Scouters who serve at council camps whenever troops, teams, Webelos dens, or posts are using any part of the camp property. CampMasters select their own time and frequency of service, but they usually serve two to four times a year. The group is organized under the leadership of the council camping committee. The entire project and its personnel are responsible to the council camping director. The corps generally meets twice a year to evaluate its program, schedule ahead, and arrange for the training of any new members. The purpose of the CampMaster Corps is to assist units and youth in having a more purposeful, enjoyable program in short term camping. A CampMaster serves the units in camp by assisting the leader in coordinating his/her program and by sharing with the units his/her particular outdoor skills, through the patrol method, to give the youth a natural experience. Depending on the individual he/she may also supervise the operation of a variety of program resources available. CampMasters will serve as host/commissioner for weekend activities at Camp Norse. Duties will include: Checking units into Campsites/ buildings. Being available to address needs and concerns of units. Overseeing or facilitating work projects. Possibly conducting some programs. (For example, a CampMaster who is expert at orienteering may choose to set up a course which the units in Camp could use if they choose.) Keeping a log of all activities in Camp. Checking units out of campsites/buildings. CampMasters will stay in the heated Magee Lodge/CampMaster Cabin for the weekend. All BSA and Council regulations regarding camping and use of facilities will be followed. You are responsible for your own meals... BSA registration and current Youth Protection Training (YPT) required. CampMaster will be required to take a three hour training and orientation course. Please contact Bob Howard at r.howard@campnorse.org to sign up. Be sure to pass this information along to anyone you think may be suited for this position.

We’re looking to make the 2021 National Jamboree at The Summit Bechtel Reserve an amazing Scouting experience. Volunteers in the Boy Scouts of America know what it means to serve. It’s the volunteer spirit that makes the hard work worth it. More importantly, it’s the smiling faces that keep the volunteers coming back for more. It’s the knowledge that they’re passing on a philosophy of giving that Scouts and Venturers will remember when it’s their turn to step up. The Jamboree Service Team is the staff for the National Scout Jamboree. Older Scouts (16+) and adults may apply to be part of the Jamboree Service Team. To apply for the Jamboree Service Team you must have a my.scouting.org login. The first 2,021 Jamboree Service Team applicants that sign-up and pay the deposit will receive the “Challenge Accepted!” temporary uniform patch. Apply today to secure this unique patch! (As shown below) Please ensure all information is current in My.Scouting before proceeding as the National Jamboree staff application will reflect the applicant’s information from My.Scouting. All updates/edits to account information will need to be made in My.Scouting. Questions?
